A friend of mine used to be obsessed with Gunbroker.com. He spent hours on the site every week, searching listings, zooming in on pictures, reading and re-reading descriptions.
When he saw something he liked, he would leave a reasonable bid and move on. Most of his bids don’t work out. But sometimes, a nice shotgun or rifle would fall through the cracks, and my friend would get a deal. Then he would send me a pic of the gun, tell me what he paid for it, and make me jealous.
The kind of shotgun my friend would have bid on: 20g Greifelt OU soon. With double triggers, ejectors, 2 3/4″ chambers, and a 14 3/4” LOP, he would have been thrilled to have won it.

Greifelt & Co used to be one of Germany’s top gunmakers. The company was active from 1885 to WWII. In the 1920s and 1930s, they exported shotguns and rifles to gunshops in America like Von Lengerke & Detmold and Abercrombie & Fitch.
The OUs they sent over here were some of the first modern over-under shotguns sold in the US. Those Greifelts cost much more than most Parkers, Foxes, and L.C. Smiths. But they were still cheaper than British over unders by Boss or Woodward.
