Parker VHE 16 Gauge 28” Barrels Pistol Grip Stock Splinter Forearm: This Parker has 28” barrels with 2 1/2” chambers and choke constrictions that measure .025 right and .027 left. The bores are clean and shiny and measure .667 right and .664 left. The barrels retain 90% of their original finish and have a single silver bead on a solid rib. There are various light handling marks, light freckling and a couple of thinned areas where someone tried to steel wool some rust off. The rib is marked PARKER BROS. MAKERS. MERIDEN. CT. U.S.A. VULCAN. STEEL. The #1 frame has 50% original case coloring. The trigger guard retains 10% original bluing. Double triggers, ejectors, automatic safety. The forearm and buttstock have had varnish added and have various light scratches and dings in them. Length of pull is 14 1/4” to the front trigger over a Parker hard rubber butt plate. Nice original example with some repair to the top left hammer. Wonderful stock, original checkering, fire-blued steel buttplate. Bores appear mint. Shot and powder flasks, tools in leather pouch, original maker’s oak case. This is a best gun of the period. Lancaster began in 1811 as a gun barrel maker, then set up shop as a gunmaker at 151 New Bond Street, building guns of the highest quality.
