W & C Scott .410 – 1926, EJECTORS, 28”, IN PROOF, NICE WOOD

W & C Scott .410 – 1926, EJECTORS, 28”, IN PROOF, NICE WOOD: Serial Number: 98002. 5lbs 1oz, Chokes F/F, LOP 14 1/2″, DAH 2 13/16″, DAC 1 9/16″. What a delightful find we have here with a W & C Scott and Sons baby frame .410 BOXLOCK EJECTOR GUN WITH 28” BARRELS AND A FULL-LENGTH ORIGINAL BUTTSTOCK MEASURING 14 ½” LOP TO THE HORN BUTTPLATE.  I emphasize this as most British made .410 doubleguns have short barrels and short stocks, and usually are extractor only guns built for youthful shooters or ladies.  To find an example of a “full-size” .410 from a well-known British maker with a London address on the barrels is a treasure in hand!  This gun, sn98002, was built in 1926 and is in excellent condition, STILL IN PROOF WITH 2 ½” CHAMBERS AND BORE DIAMETER OF .411.  Weighing just 5lbs. 1oz. and balanced just ahead of the hinge pin, this is a true, scaled frame, boxlock ejector.  The hard-to-find 28” barrels have tight ribs, mirror shiny bores choked F/F, with no dents or dings, newly reblacked to perfection, fit tight as new to the hinge pin and breech face, and the engraved maker’s name and address still sharp and clear on the barrels.  The action and mechanics are superb, as this is a VFI CERTIFIED GUN, HAVING BEEN STRIPPED TO THE SMALLEST PART, ULTRASONIC CLEANED, EACH PART INSPECTED FOR INTEGRITY AND FUNCTION, PROPERLY LUBRICATED AND REASSEMBLED, NOW WITH A 90 DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY.  The action retains about 30% fading factory original case color and the bottom plate retains 80% of the original blue, the ejectors are strong and timed, triggers are crisp, screws are excellent, fine English scroll engraving and fancy borders adorn the action in a most pleasant way.  The action is tight with the lever right of center.  The wood is well figured and freshly restored to perfection with hand-rubbed Truoil finish to bring out the figure.  The wood-to-metal fit is tight, the original flat-topped checkering has been cleaned up, and there are no chips or cracks anywhere.  THIS IS A GORGEOUS LITTLE BRITISH .410!  The stock dimensions are modern (see table below), and this gun is ready to shoot for another 95 years with proper care.  It is a rare find to have all the best features found in a scaled frame .410, ie 28” barrels, in proof, long LOP, ejectors, superb mechanics, and freshly restored barrels, trigger guard, and wood…there is nothing left to do but go break a few clays and then let the quail, woodcock, or other upland game realize that you are deadly with this diminutive British double.  This is an investment grade gun that you will enjoy as it continues to grow in value and demand will never cease for such a gun.  Don’t hesitate, as this one won’t last long at the fair price we are presenting here. Price: $6,750
