Make: Aguirre y Aranzabal (AyA), Gauge: 16 Gauge, 2 3/4″ Shells Model: Number 2 Serial Number: 238, Action Type: Double Barrel Sidelock Shotgun with Ejectors. Barrel Length: 29” Choke: Left: Modified, Right: Improved Cylinder, both fixed. Weight: 6 lb. 8.2 oz.
Year of Manufacture: 2012 (AyA guns have a coded serial number, 16-03 identifies the maker as AyA, 238 is the serial number, 12 is the year of manufacture), shipped January 2013 per AyA.
Markings: The top of the barrel is marked “AYA – AGUIRRE & ARANZABAL – MADE IN SPAIN” The top of the left barrel is marked “”NECG-Claremont NH” / 16 Gauge”, “16.9” is marked on the bottom of each barrel with the left “***” and the right “****”. The flat has the AYA proof and logo “16-03 / 2338-12” and a series of Spanish proofs. The top of the forend iron is marked “238-12”, the top of the forend is stamped “238 12”. The water table is marked with a series of Spanish proofs, the AYA logo, and “16-03 / 238-12”. The guard is marked “N238”. The receiver has extensive fine scroll and border engraving with engraving motif continued on the guard, lever, exposed portions of the forend iron and the rear of the barrel rib.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered walnut with splinter forend, straight grip, straight comb, gold-colored initial plate inlet to the belly and bare checkered butt. The stocks have only minor handling wear, most notable in the butt at the heel. The checkering is well defined, generally sharp. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures approximately 14 7/8″ and 13 7/8″ from the fronts of the triggers to the back of the butt. Drop at comb is approximately 1 3/8″, drop at heel 2 1/4″. The cast is about neutral. Overall, the stocks are in about Fine-Excellent condition.
Type of Finish: Case Color and Blue Finish Originality: Original Bore Condition: The bores are Bright. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. Most of the balance is in light operational wear, concealed when assembled. Otherwise, there are only light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun is in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly including ejectors. The safety returns to safe when the action is opened. The barrels lock-up to the receiver with no play. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
