If I had to name the best SxS bargain out there, I would say “12g British Boxlock Non-Ejectors”, especially ones like the double you see here.

Montrose Auction Inc has this one by Charles Osborne. It’s coming up today in their firearms auction, and if it’s good, shootable shape, it may be worth chasing.

Even those these guns are 12 gauges, most of them weigh around 6 3/4 pounds and handle better than a lot of American SxS costing many times more
Charles Osborne opened a shop at at 1 Litchfield Street, Birmingham in 1838. The company was around until 1957.

This side-by-side was probably made before WW1. It looks like a standard Anson & Deeley boxlock — which is a good thing. The A&D boxlock is one of the best actions ever invented.
