If I say “Browning” most shotgun guys think “OU”. But Browning has also offered a line of highly regarded SxS shotguns. Tagged the “BSS”, these doubles came in two basic categories: Boxlocks and sidelocks. All of these shotguns were made in Japan by Miroku, and today they’ve proven themselves to be solid, dependable firearms.
Browning BSS sidelock was offered from 1983-1987. Even though these Holland & Holland-pattern side-by-sides were very well made, they weren’t big sellers.
Today, most of the ones you see have 26″ barrels. This one has 28″. That, along with its overall high quality and great price (these usually sell for $4000+) , make this BSS a double worth taking a couple closer looks at.
