
Wow — here’s a really nice looking Merkel. Morphy’s Auctions has it and the sale is Saturday, July 31, 2016.
From I can see, this O/U is pretty much brand new, and its condition, 28″ barrels and straight grip make it a great find. The case and accessories are nice, too, and probably worth $750 on their own.

These Merkels are incredibly well made, and even though some can be a bit heavy, they usually have the feel and liveliness of much lighter guns. They lock up with double Kersten locks, an incredibly strong and reliable system.
Cased Merkel Over-Under Shotgun: Serial # 34028 28″ barrels in 20 bore. Manufactured in Germany. Top barrel choked modified, bottom barrel choked cylinder. 2-3/4″ chamber. Auto-ejectors, mirror bores, solid matted rib, single bead front sight, three piece walnut forend finely checkered, case colored scalloped box lock, top tang safety, and checkered straight grip walnut buttstock with red Pachmayr pad. 14-1/8″ LOP to front trigger. Lock-up is tight. Receiver features fine scroll engraving and retains nearly all of the original case colors. Trigger guard is finely blued and engraved with light high edge wear. Stocks are near mint. Barrels retains 98% original factory blue. Has a 1-1/4″ drop at comb and 2-1/4″ drop at heel. Manufactured in Suhl, Germany. Near new condition throughout. Lovely 20 bore shotgun with scarce case colored frame. Comes in a period lined hard leather case with snap caps, cleaning rod, and tools.
