Here’s an over under most hunters overlook these days. It’s a Merkel 200e made right after WW2 and it’s on Gunbroker.com now, ending 12/3/2017 @ 7:52 PM.
Merkel is one of the world’s most famous gunmakers, and at the end of the 19th century they created the first commercially successful breechloading, over-under shotguns.
Back when this one was made, the 200e was Merkel’s basic model. But that doesn’t mean it was low quality. Every one of these Merkels I’ve seen has been solid and well made, on par, or better, than a Browning Superposed or early Beretta ASE.
All this one needs is a little choke work to be the perfect pheasant-hunting machine.
