The side-by-sides made by A.H. Fox as classic and American as double-barrel shotguns get. A.H. Foxes came in a number of grades. The Sterlingworths were their entry level shotguns. Today, they’re the ones you see all the time on the used markets. Fox’s graded doubles go from A to F. There’s no E, and there’s also an X.
In all these grades, twenty gauges are the toughest to find. From 1912 to 1940, A.H. Fox made fewer than 4,000 graded 20s of them. That means the 20 gauge A Grade you see here is pretty rare side by side. And even though it has had some “refreshing” done to it, it’s still a nice little shotgun.
