The finely crafted self opening sidelock action, retains almost all of its original color case hardening, despite being made over 70 years ago. The beautifully figured walnut stocks are free of any cracks or major scratches from use and are equipped with a comfortable, leather covered recoil pad. Interestingly, this gun is marked with a #3 in the normal locations that would indicate a matched set, however Purdey has no record of any guns being made to match this one. Beautiful Miller & Val Greiss Trap and/or Live Bird Gun Over Under Pre WW2 Shotgun: This remarkable gun is in great condition. It has ebony inlays in the stock and forend. It comes with double triggers, ejectors, cocking indicators and very fine engraving. The scalloped action mates perfectly with incredible craftsmanship of the stock maker. The bores are shiny with no pitting whatsoever. It is 12 gauge chocked Full and Full. It has a few small handling marks but no significant damage anywhere. It comes with its original leather case and some documentation about the original owner. This Fantastic gun was custom made for Dr. Justus Mathews of Mayo Clinic. He was instrumental in the startup of the Ear, Nose and Throat division and served as director of that department between 1906 and 1917.
