Merkel 304E 12 gauge Sidelock pre-war Over Under: Merkel 304E 12 gauge O/U side lock shotgun. Proof dated November 1938 this spectacular example of a pre-war 304E has 30” vent rib barrels with mirror perfect bores of .725” diameter and choked .010” and .020” (IC/IM) and has factory 2 ¾” chambers with .035” nominal wall thickness. Under the barrels there is attached a three-piece forearm that is a rather long 13” which looks perfect on the 30” barrels. The profusely engraved scroll action has hand detachable 9-pin sidelocks that fit flawlessly into the frame and stock. Double triggers. Non-automatic safety. The stock has a rounded pistol grip and the LOP is 14 3/4″” over a full leather covered recoil pad with 1 9/16” DAC and 2 ½” DAH with a slight cast favoring a right hand shooter.
