Superb high original condition Purdey Best Quality SxS Pigeon Gun 12ga W/case- a superior 1925 gun with excellent provenance

Superb high original condition Purdey Best Quality SxS Pigeon Gun 12ga W/case- a superior 1925 gun with excellent provenance: Built in 1925 for noted Newspaper mogul and philanthropist, Ira C. Copley of San Diego, CA. Gun built with 30″ Whitworth barrels and proved for 1-1/4oz loads and has “matted rib” (very rare). Splinter forend. Gun is fabulously rose and scroll engraved and bold vivid original case color remaining. Gun built with hidden third fastener, double triggers, side-clips, auto safety. The straight grip buttstock is very nicely figured and terminates with an aging Silvers type pad. Gun is housed in its original matching numbers and “I.C.C.” embossed case with original Purdey accessories remaining.  Overall, the gun remains in fantastic original condition with more than 95% bold original metal finishes remaining. Stocks are sound and excellent with some minor marks but retain more than 95% of their original finishes. The only thing that has ever been touched on the gun is the pad which is an aging replacement. The original pad had crystallized. The case is excellent as are the original accesories. Bores are brilliant and shiny. Mechanics are perfect and gun is tight and on face. This is by far the single finest all original Purdey Pigeon gun I have owned or seen. Price: $32,950*

Parker DHE 20 Gauge Side-by-Side Straight Grip 30 Inch Barrels Rare Configuration
Parker DHE 20 Gauge Side-by-Side Straight Grip 30 Inch Barrels Rare Configuration

Parker DHE 20 Gauge Side-by-Side Straight Grip 30 Inch Barrels Rare Configuration: I have for sale a nice original Parker DHE in 20 Gauge.  This gun has several things that make it rather unique.  First of all it has 30 inch barrels.  Most 20 gauge Parkers have either 26 or 28 inch barrels.  These barrels have both barrels with bores measuring .617 and both with .025 of constriction which is a little odd especially for a 20 gauge.  But the most unusual thing about the gun is that it was ordered with no safety.  These features lead me to believe this gun was either going to be used for trap or duck hunting and since it was sold in Canada and it was ordered with 2 7/8 inch chambers originally I’m assuming it was going to be used for waterfowl.  I have the Parker letter taken from the order books attached so you can see how it was ordered.  There are only two things that vary from the order letter and that is the length of pull is 14 1/8 not 14 1/2 but I’m assuming that is a typo when entered in the book or when the letter was created as the drop at heel is exactly 2 1/2 inches as specified in the letter and if the stock was 14 1/2 inches as specified in the letter it would have more drop.  Also the weight is more than specified in the letter at 7 pounds 1 ounce.  As you can see all numbers match on this gun, screw heads are excellent, and lockup is tight with top lever right of center.  Barrels have a nice chime when struck.  All in all a very nice and unusual Parker DHE with great crisp trigger pulls and ejectors that cast the hulls strongly and in time.  One additional thing.  The wood to metal fit on this gun is extrodinary.  The wood seems to melt into the metal and doesn’t appear that it hasn’t  been taken apart ever.
