LOT 59: FINEST KNOWN AND NEAR MINT LEFEVER F GRADE 16 GAUGE
“Important” isn’t a word I would use to describe many shotguns. But it’s warranted for this Lefever coming up in Guyette & Deeter’s Sept 14 sale.
The auctioneer says this Lefever may be the world’s most original 16g F-grade. That means it’s the best record we have of how a Lefever like this looked when it came out of the factory 120 years ago. That’s extremely important to anyone who loved these old shotguns.

Even though the color-case hardened has mellowed a bit over time, you can still see it on the toplever, forend iron, and triggerguard. You can also see the style of the checkering and the shape of the stock. Details like this are what set Lefevers apart and made them one of the most elegant SxSs ever made in America.
