I’ve always been a fan of Ruger’s 28-gauge Red Label OUs. They handle well, they’re reliable, and they’re great all-around bird guns.
This one is coming up Saturday, March 13, @ Carol Watson Spring Antique & Modern Firearms Auction.
It has 28″ barrels and nice wood, which makes it’s special, and it looks like it’s in great original condition.
Lot #256: Ruger Red Label Field Grade Over/Under Shotgun: #420-02582. 28 ga. 28” vent rib barrels have 2-3/4” chambers and are fitted with Ruger choke tubes (5 included: 2 Skeet, IC, Mod. Full). Gun also includes pair of Briley .410 bore conversion tubes with additional four choke tubes (2 Skeet, IC, Mod.). Stainless steel boxlock action features a single selective trigger, non-auto safety and auto ejectors. American walnut slender forend and pistol-grip buttstock feature standard Ruger checkering, Ruger metal grip cap and black buttplate; buttstock is of exceptionally nice grain. With choke tool in original Ruger boxes. Mfg’d approx. 1996. Condition is near excellent, with few small handling marks to wood and slight wear to action, which functions correctly and locks tight; bores are bright. Est.: $2,000-$2,600.
