This is an outstanding Piotti King 1 20 gauge shotgun. The blue steel, dovetail lump barrels with single brass bead sight on the matte, concave rib, standard markings, 3-inch chambers with automatic ejectors, cylinder/improved cylinder chokes, underside of left barrel marked “W L MOORE, WESTLAKE, CA, “MOD. KING 1.”, and standard Italian proofs on the flats. Casehardened receiver and Holland & Holland pattern side locks with cocking indicators, dual triggers, and automatic sliding tang safety. The receiver and locks feature full coverage, tight scroll engraving with detailed floral flourishes. The tangs and rolled trigger guard are engraved to match and signed “GRANETTI” on the left side of the trigger. Attractively figured, checkered walnut straight grip stock and splinter forearm with engraved fittings, Anson latch, Piotti crest in gold inlay, and leather wrapped recoil pad. With leather bound take down case with Piotti interior label. Stock measurements are: drop at comb 1 1/2 inches; drop at heel 2 1/2 inches; length of pull 14 3/8 inches. Excellent with 95% original blue finish on the barrels, some light muzzle wear, small surface scratches, and some bright forearm marks. The receiver and locks have 65% original casehardened finish with some edge wear, uniform gray patina on the underside, and crisp, well defined engraving. The wood is also excellent with attractive figure, sharp checkering, and some small dings. Mechanically excellent. Case is good with stiff straps, scuffs and dings throughout the exterior, and corner and edge wear.
