Game of Thrones fans know winter is coming. Bird hunters know something far more important is headed our way: grouse season. For folks who hunt in NH & Maine, opening day is October 1, and if you’re looking for a great double to take in the wood this fall, here it is.
Twenty-gauge Beretta BL 4s are great shotguns. The Garcia Corporation imported them and other Beretta BL-grade O/Us into the US in the ’60s & ’70s. Each grades came with various degrees of engraving and touch better finishing than the company’s later 686s. I think that makes them look a bit more refined.

If I had this gun, I would open the chokes a bit (it looks like they’re still the original M & F right now) and get rid of that bad idea hanging off the butt-end of the stock. Then I’d start dreaming about October.
20 gauge Beretta BL-4 O/U, 28″ barrels: 3″ chambers. The top barrel has a full choke while the bottom has a modified choke.
