Target shooting isn’t my thing, and I’ve never set foot on a box-bird field. But guys I know who are nuts about clays and crack shots on live pigeons swear to me that this Perazzi is the best SxS you can buy for either game.
Even though Perazzi built its fame on OUs, the company made doubles with barrels both ways back when it started out. I’ve been told Perazzi DHO sidelock side-by-sides were made in collaboration with Fabbri, back when Perazzi/Fabbri were starting out as gunmakers and figuring out which path to follow. From what I can see, the DHO SxS is a pretty standard, H&H pattern sidelock. There doesn’t appear to be anything new or innovative going on with it.
That’s not the case with this Perazzi DC-12. This gun was built to shake off thousands and thousands heavy loads. To do that, it uses several unique features including a removable trigger group and dual, parallel barrel lugs. All in, these features have created a stout shotgun that ideal for serious target shooters.

This gun has all of the positive attributes of the competition proven MX-8 platform: Removable trigger group, replacement firing pins, & main springs. This is the only SxS gun produced today with these features.
The gun is choked for Clays (IC/M) and has the following upgrades (at extra expense): SC 2 wood, gold selective trigger group, German Bone case colors. I bought it along with a 28” gun, took both to the range, shot one round of 5-Stand through each and opted for the shorter gun. Thus, this gun has exactly 25 rounds through it! It is LNIC.
