Here’s another nice American SxS you don’t want to miss. This one is an A.H. Fox BE. It’s on Gunrunner.com now and the online auction ends tomorrow, 02/13/15, @ 19:20:00 EST. This B-grade features Fox’s earlier engraving pattern. Later Bs look more like this one here.
A. H. Fox Grade BE, 12 ga. side by side shotgun: Serial #12537, mfg. 1909 in Philadelphia, PA. Very good condition! Very desirable Ashley H. Fox double with 30″ solid rib Krupp steel barrels! Bright bores. Tight lock-up. A real gentleman’s gun with double triggers and ejectors (they work great and flung the empties across the room!). 90% blue on the barrels with some fading and light field marks. All matching iron. Stock is very nice with great waves and burl. Hard buttplate. Receiver is gray with only a little faded case-color in protected areas and top of frame. Nicely engraved with quail and snipe on either side of the receiver and light scroll. Marked “Krupp Fluid Steel” on barrel top with “A.H. Fox Gun Co., Phil., PA”. Splinter forearm. Round knob stock with nice fine-line checkering – some slight smoothness as expected. Brass front bead. An American Classic – nice shooting dimensions – light weight – beautifully balanced. Includes a vintage softcase, and cleaning kit. Great find!
