
Here’s proof that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to get a nice double barrel shotgun. The Manufrance Robust is good, solid shotgun, built on an Anson & Deeley style boxlock action. The one you see here looks pretty much new. It even has it’s original retractable leather sling – a pretty cool, and handy feature.

16 gauge Manufrance Robust 226 Side-by-Side Shotgun: Boxlock extractor with Self-Contained Leather Sling. Serial Number: 189139, Year of Manufacture: 1932-1944. Barrel Length: 27 ½”. Choke: The right barrel is choked “MODIFIED” and the left barrel is choked “FULL”. Chambers are 2 3/4″.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are checkered hardwood. The buttplate is Bakelite and shows “MF” in a wreath. The screw heads are engraved. There are only faint handling marks and light wear to the checkering. There is a leather sling which retracts into the buttstock. The leather is in Fine Condition and shows no signs of cracking. The LOP measures 14 3/8” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stocks rate in about Excellent overall condition.
Finish Originality: All Original
Bore Condition: The bores are bright. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 85% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light pinprick surface erosion and frosting on the barrels. The case colored receiver also has a bit of frosting. The screw heads are mostly sharp with a couple of screw heads that are lightly marred but still serviceable. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Very Good condition.
