Here’s another head scratcher: A 12 gauge Fox Sterlingworth double barrel shotgun with a straight, English-style stock.
Fox did make Sterlingworth with straight gripped stocks. Called the Skeet & Upland Game Game it was Savage-era gun introduced in 1935. But this is a Philadelphia gun made around 1926. So where did the gun get that English style stock?
So where did the stock come from? It must be a replacement – maybe done at the factory. Original or not, I think it looks nice and makes this Sterlie a great all around shooter. Here’s more about this SxS from the seller:
A.H.Fox Sterlingworth side by side 12 ga shotgun, #109050: 26″ barrels extractors only, mfg in Phila. PA. Double triggers, straight, English-style stock checkered. Wood is good condition with handling marks but with some figure to wood, barrels have excellent bluing with one small defect top right barrel where at one time was dinged(inspected with bore scope and no internal defects), bore is bright and shiny. Double triggers with auto safety. LOP 13″ to rear and 14″ to front.
