Lot 18: EXCEEDINGLY RARE, INVESTMENT QUALITY PARKER BROS BHE GRADE 28 GAUGE SHOTGUN W/FACTORY VENT RIB: SN. 241675. Perhaps the only one made in this configuration and what many would call the crown jewel of any advanced Parker Collection. Made on a “00” frame with 26” fluid steel barrels that have factory original matted ventilated rib with small white mid and front beads. Rib is absent of any legend which is correct for this period of manufacture. Small ring of engraving at breech end of bbls. Barrel flats with SN, Parker Overload Proof stamps,

Remington date code “EH” (October 1939), and unstruck bbl weight of 2lbs 15oz. Left side of barrel lump stamped “B GRADE 28 GAUGE / FOR 2-7/8” SHELLS”. Bbls with proper reinforced forend lug and weep hole ahead of lug for a gun of this era. Original slim beavertail forend with engraved case hardened Deeley latch release is checkered in flowing wave border pattern with proper reinforcement lug at muzzle end.Interior iron with SN and engraved screws. Frame with single raised rib on fences is beautifully engraved with 2 large quail on left, two pheasants on right surrounded by full coverage foliate scrollwork on sides.

Bottom of frame with nicely detailed vignette of Setter and Pointer on floorplate and engraved “PARKER” across hinge pin area. Blued trigger guard with flowers and scroll on bow, SN at tang. Carved top lever is engraved in scroll and “SAFE” engraved ahead of the safety slide. Gun made with Parker SST, ejectors, auto safety.. Mounted with finely figured pistol grip buttstock w/checkered side panels and fleur-de-lis carved drop points is checkered through the wrist and terminates with original engraved skeleton buttplate. Gold capped pistol grip is engraved “JGE”. This gun has been in the same family here in Maryland since 1958 and has not been offered to the collecting public until this sale. WEIGHT: 6lbs 3oz. Bore Measurement: .551(Rt) .552(L). Bore Restriction: .011(Rt) .024(L). DAC: 1-5/8 DAH: 2-5/8”. LOP: 13-3/4”.

CONDITION: Excellent and all original. Barrels retain about 95% of their original blue with some silvering at muzzle. Forend is excellent and sound with tiny impressions and some finish thinning. Frame retains 40%+ of its original case color muted by sharp engraving. Trigger guard with hints of original blue. Buttstock is excellent and sound with scattered handling marks and retains most of its hand worn untouched factory original finish. Buttplate has toned with checkering beginning to flatten. Screws are excellent and unmarred. Bores are bright and shiny. Mechanics are excellent. This is an exceptionally rare Parker in proper original condition- exactly as advanced collectors/investors demand!
